“Azerbaijan, ignoring the calls of the international community,
is constantly increasing its military spending. The respective
international structures should control the annual armament purchases
by Azerbaijan, because Azerbaijan’s measures destabilize the situation
in the region,” member of the NA Standing Committee on Defense,
National Security and Internal Affairs Karine Saribekyan told a
Panorama.am reporter, commenting on the increase in defense spending
by Azerbaijan.

Note that law “On 2012 State Budget” was submitted for discussion in
Azerbaijan, envisaging a 1.9 percent increase in the military spending
(around 65 million) compared to the previous year, 14.8 percent of
the state budget.

“On the one hand, war threats, on the other hand, armament purchases
can arouse serious problems in the region. Armenia is ready for any
scenario of the conflict settlement, nevertheless, we do not want war.

We see settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict through exclusively
peaceful means,” the parliamentarian said.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
