Armenian Facebook activists have showered Prime Minister Tigran
Sargsyan’s Facebook account with calls to stop the construction of
hydroelectric power station (HPS) in Trchkan, a settlement located
in the country’s north.
The members of the group, called “Let’s Preserve Trchkan’s Waterfall”
are posting comments and photos on the wall of Sargsyan’s Facebook
account, saying the construction would destroy the waterfall.
“Trchnak will not become a HPS,” read several comments.
“Trchkan Waterfall is an apparent wonder: one should be at least
blind not to complain against the latter’s becoming an HPS. We are
asking and demanding to take preventive steps before another beauty
disappears in front of us,” read another comment.
As of 9pm Sargsyan had not responded to any of the comments.
