The spokesman for the President, Armen Arzumanyan, responded to the
article Why They Recalled Kocharyan published today in Lragir.am

Armen Arzumanyan cited the following parts of the article: “Turkey
proposed consideration of the genocide by the commission of historians
and Kocharyan refused. Instead, the Armenian side proposed discussion
of any issue at an intergovernmental level”.

“An intergovernmental commission can meet to discuss any and all
outstanding issues between our two nations, with the aim of resolving
them and coming to an understanding,” Kocharyan wrote to Erdogan.

The point is that these protocols note the subcommittee of historians.

In other words, what Robert Kocharyan had refused was accepted by
Serzh Sargsyan”.

In connection with these parts, he underlined that this is evidently
misinformation. Arzumanyan says his “assertion can even be proven
by another publication of the same source you analyzed which runs
“Sargsyan dwelt on the joint Armenia-Turkey statement … (noting)…

“Issues related to the genocide will not be discussed by historians
but within one of inter-governmental subcommittees,” which means that
the genocide issue will not be discussed by historians or even the
intergovernmental committee, but one of its subcommittees. This is
a position Serzh Sargsyan has repeatedly issued.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
