The VIII tour has taken place in the World Chess Team Championship
in Ningbo (China) today.

The Azerbaijani national team failed to win the last rounds of the
competition. But it competed with the leader – the Armenian team.

Armenia ranked first and Azerbaijan – seventh before this tour.

Teymur Rajabov (2,744 points) and Vugar Gashimov (2,760 points)
competed with Levon Aronyan (2,805 points) and Sergey Movsesyan
(2,700 points), respectively, and made a draw.

Shahriyar Mammadyarov (2,765 points) won over Armenia’s representative
Gabriel Sargsyan with a score of 1-0 (2,663 points).

Another member of our team Rauf Mammadov (2,679 points) lost to
Vladimir Akopian (2,667 points) with a score of 0-1.

Thus, Azerbaijani chess players have not given the opportunity for
the Armenians to become champions before the appointed time.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
