ASHOT MANUCHARYAN: PRINCIPLES OF MADRID ARE DISASTER FOR ARMENIA AND KARABAKH

The principles of Madrid are a disaster for Armenia and Karabakh,
says Ashot Manucharyan. He says a fundamental change of Armenia’s
policy is necessary. Armenia is the ball rather than the football
player, says Manucharyan.
He noted that the interests of Iran and Russia in the region match but
Russia is pursuing instant goals which are not in Armenia’s interests.
“Iran considers the territories as those controlled by Armenia and if
these territories fall under the control of others, Iran says there
are many people who would like to live there,” Manucharyan says,
adding that Iran has shown he has tools too.
Ashot Manucharyan thinks developments concerning the Karabakh issue
are against Armenia. He underlined the factor of the Diaspora regarding
this issue.
