YEREVAN. – The European Parliament does not consider Nagorno-Karabakh
an independent entity and always speaks of territorial integrity
of states, Jerzy Buzek, President of European Parliament, said at a
press conference in Yerevan on Wednesday.

He stressed that it does not mean that needs of ordinary people living
in this territory and their desire to communicate with citizens of
foreign countries should be forgotten.

“We must provide humanitarian aid to these people, regardless of
unresolved political conflict. It is better to extend a hand of
friendship than be in war,” said Buzek, adding that security guarantees
should be ensured throughout Europe.

President of European Parliament noted both societies should be
prepared for achieving resolution of the Karabakh conflict.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
