Armenia’s first president, currently leader of the opposition Armenian
National Congress (ANC) Levon Ter-Petrosyan has joined the big crowd
of protesters outside Matenadaran.
Ter-Petrosyan is accompanied by the leader of the People’s Party
of Armenia, Stepan Demirchyan, and the head of the Republic party,
Aram Sargsyan.
The rally has attracted a big crowd. Policemen have gathered on the
site with vehicles to patrol the people. The protesters are holding
up the flags of Armenia, as well as the photos of political prisoners.
Those on the frontlines are holding up the photos of the victims of
the March 1, 2008 tragedy.
ANC members David Shahnazaryan, leader of the Social-Democrat liberal
party Lyudmila Sargsyan, as well as representative of other parties
affiliated with ANC are on the demonstration podium.
