Political prisoner Sasun Mikaelyan currently serving his sentence
in the hospital for inmates has been reported to have undergone two
heart surgeries.
A statement issued by the Justice Ministry’s Penitentiary Department
said the information is wrong and aims to render Mikaelyan’s health
condition as extremely grave. It further says that the convict
underwent a stent procedure once while being in detention.
Thereafter, some post-surrgery check-ups were prescribed, the last
being conducted on December 22. Some media outlets misrepresented the
information by saying that Mikayelyan underwent the second surgery,
says the statement.
