The OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs have led Nagorno-Karabakh talks to
a deadlock by presenting the renewed version of Madrid Principles,
Nagorno-Karabakh former Defense Minister Samvel Babayan told reporters
today.

"It’s more than clear for them that the Armenian party will not
approve it," he said.

"They have got well aware of the views of the parties for 16 years
and they shouldn’t have presented such a document," Babayan said.

According to him, the mediators should assume as judges by deciding
on what is right and what is wrong to make appropriate conclusions
and find clear solutions. Babayan thinks the mediators’ disposition
to have the "parties agree in between and we’ll support them" is wrong.

If the parties can agree, why on earth do they need mediators?: the
former minister wondered highlighting that it’s been quite long since
parties could not have dialogue.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
