US official: No deal to block `genocide’ vote in House
A senior US State Department official on Thursday said he was unaware
of any deal that would keep the Armenian `genocide’ resolution from
being brought to the full House floor for a vote.
During a daily press briefing, US State Department Acting Deputy
Spokesman Gordon Duguid commented on remarks made by Assistant
Secretary of State Philip Gordon about a speculated-upon deal in
Congress over the Armenian `genocide’ resolution, which was passed in
the US House Foreign Affairs Committee on March 4.
Duguid said he was not aware of any deal on the resolution. `That is
something that Congress will decide,’ Duguid noted. `I am unaware of
any deal.’
