The petition against the Madrid Principles and the signed
Armenian-Turkish Protocols by Miatsum National Initiative has already
gathered 10,000 signatures. The initiative against the Protocols and
the Madrid Principles, which provide an outline for the settlement
of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, gathered 10,000 signatures in acts
of protest in various Yerevan communities which spanned a mere 10 days.
Miatsum National Initiative member and filmmaker Tigran Khzmalyan spoke
about this issue at a press conference today. For comparative purposes,
he spoke about the petition circulated by the Armenian Revolutionary
Federation (Dashnaktsutyun, or ARF-D), noting that they have more
resources and attributed more time toward collecting signatures, though
"it’s odd that at their one location [in Republic Square in central
Yerevan], they succeeeded in collecting 1,000 signatures a day."
