Turkey’s foreign minister, Ahmet Davutoglu, called hid French
counterpart Bernard Kouchner to inform him of the agreement reached by
Turkey and Armenia on the immediate resumption of negotiations with
a view to establishing diplomatic ties between the two countries,
French Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported..

Bernard Kouchner expressed to his Turkish counterpart the huge
importance France attached to this progress towards normalizing
Turkish-Armenian bilateral relations. It is an important step for the
region and beyond. He emphasized that this prospect of normalized
diplomatic ties between two nations whose relations were painfully
scarred by history would show the world that reconciliation can come
through openness, dialogue, and respect for the other.
