LAST WEEK ARMENIAN BANKS ISSUED AMD CREDITS WORTH 9BLN AMD AND USD LOANS WORTH $13.5MLN

ArmInfo. Last week (May 4-10) the Armenian banks issued AMD credits
worth 9bln AMD and USD loans worth $13.5mln, reports the press service
of the Central Bank of Armenia.
On the intra-bank currency market this week (May 11-15) the banks
bought $49.794mln at 372.39 AMD/1 USD and sold $48.765mln at 373.97
AMD/1 USD. On the inter-bank currency market during the same period
the banks carried out buying/selling operations worth $1.450mln at
373.74 AMD/1 USD. May 11-15 the amount of buying/selling operations
at NASDAQ OMX Armenia totalled $3.6mln with the exchange rate being
374.32 AMD/1 USD.
As of Apr 2009 the credit portfolio of the commercial banks of Armenia
totalled $2bln – 3% growth in Jan-Mar 2009 against 13% growth in
Jan-Mar 2008.
