Armenia’s Economic Competition Protection Commission (ECPC) plans to
apply serious sanctions against unfair entrepreneurs, ECPC chairman
Ashot Shahnazaryan has said.

He said the commission held monitoring of a number of large retailers
initiated talks with large importers, after which the prices for
certain goods were reduced, Armenian news agency Mediamax reported
on 4 March.

He said that now the situation in the food markets is calm, and the
growth of prices by 10-12 per cent is seen in petrol, vegetable oil,
butter and sugar.

"I see no abuse in today’s prices," Mediamax quoted Shahnazaryan
as saying. He said that the commission will not allow economically
ungrounded growth of prices, saying that 4-5 per cent increase is
possible. He said the availability of necessary volumes of petrol
among importers for the nearest three or four months does not influence
the price formation, Mediamax reported.
