ARMENIAN OPPOSITION CANDIDATE’S CAMPAIGN HQ BURNT IN CAPITAL

The campaign HQ of Manuel Gasparyan, candidate for the head of
[Yerevan’s] Kanaker-Zeytun community, was burnt down last
night. Unidentified people had broken the headquarters’ door and
thrown a Molotov cocktail into the office. The candidate said that the
incident had to do with community head election that would be held on
7 September.

Three candidates – Manuel Gasparyan, a member of the Armenian
Democratic Path Party; Araik Kotanjyan, incumbent community head; and
Varujan Lazarian, non-partisan nominated by the Armenian Republican
Party – are competing for the post of community head.
