Russia is ready for a military cooperation with Azerbaijan, RF
Ambassador to Azerbaijan Vasiliy Istratov told journalists. He
said that Russia is ready to maximum assist in settlement of the
Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, however, the military cooperation
of Russia and Azerbaijan means rendering of military assistance to
Baku in settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict, "Trend" reports. An
agreement on bilateral cooperation exists between the defense ministers
of Azerbaijan and Russia. For its part, Azerbaijani DM Ð~J cooperates
with 50 countries. The conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia occurred
in 1988 because of the territorial claims with respect Nagorno Karabakh
and seven adjacent regions. The parties reached a cease-fire regime
in May, 1994, which is often violated. The peaceful negotiations
between the countries are held under mediation of OSCE Minsk Group
with cochairmen from Russia, France and the USA.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
