ArmInfo. The OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Finnish Foreign Minister Ilkka
Kanerva, sent his Special Envoy, Ambassador Heikki Talvitie, to Yerevan
today to try to help overcome a political crisis that led to violence
and the declaration of a state of emergency. As the press service of
OSCE headquarters told ArmInfo, H.Talvitie met RA President Robert
Kocharyan in Yerevan. He also intends to meet RA Prime Minister and
president-elect Serge Sargsyan, Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanyan and
opposition leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan. "I have sent my Special Envoy
to try to bring both sides to the negotiating table and to find a
way out of this crisis through political dialogue," said Minister
Kanerva. "The OSCE considers dialogue central to stability, and
stability is vital in the South Caucasus. Everything should be done
to avoid further casualties and any further escalation of tension",
Ilkka Kanerva resumed.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
