PRIME MINISTER COMMENDS UAF CHAIRMAN HAROUT SASOONIAN

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 21, ARMENPRESS: Prime minister
Serzh Sarkisian received today the leadership of the
U.S.-based United Armenian Fund (UAF) and its chairman
Harout Sasoonian Rudolph Perina, U.S. charge
d’affaires in Armenia and Armenian health minister
Harutyun Kushkian were also present.
The government press office said Serzh Sarkisian
congratulated all present on Armenia’s Independence
Day saying they and the organizations they represent
have made huge contribution to helping Armenia become
an established state.
According to the Armenian prime minister, what is
important is that apart from their continued support
to Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh through implementation
of programs of vital importance, provision of
assistance to insecure segments of population, these
organizations also serve as an example for others.
`I am happy that your example is being already
replicated in Armenia,’ Serzh Sarkisian told Mr.
Sasoonian.
Stressing that the UAF has airlifted to Armenia
over $500 million worth assistance since its
inception, the prime minister said the real value of
that assistance is much higher. He thanked the UAF
leadership for their nation-committed work.
For his part Mr. Sasoonian expressed his gratitude
to all American-Armenian charity organizations, their
leaders and representatives, Armenian government and
non-government organizations and individuals for
helping the UAF to materialize its projects.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
