Armenian tenor Rouben Elbakyan sang state hymn of France "Marseillaise"
with the French state military orchestra. As Elbakyan said at the
press-conference in Yerevan today, the new option of the "Marseillaise"
execution differs from all the previous ones. It will be first executed
for general audience next year during the National holiday of France –
Bastille Day, 14 July in Elysee.

He also added that the text of the French hymn was mellowed a little
and the parts, in which today’s European audience saw bloody scenes,
were excluded. The new Marseillaise was already executed in Senate
and the French government. Elbakyan said that the French authorities
liked it. To note, solo concert of Rouben Elbakyan will be performed
in Opera House of Yerevan, on 28 September. The whole fee from the
concert will be directed to Vladimir Spivakov’s charitable foundation
for buying musical instruments for the children from poor families.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
