In Syunik, 869 families were deprived of family benefits

In just one year, the government deprived 869 families (71% of beneficiaries, increasing from 1219 to 350) of the minimum means of subsistence. This is called “New Vulnerability Assessment System”, which was first tested in Syunik as a pilot program. Irina Yolyan, former deputy mayor of Goris, member of the “Strong Armenia” party, wrote about this on her Facebook page.

In particular, he noted: “With these mechanical reductions, the government “overcomes poverty” on paper.” But did those families get rich in one year? Of course not.

I myself am not at all in favor of long-term provision of benefits. Keeping families on benefits for years is a bad practice that does not solve the problem of poverty. However, in order for this benefit to last for a short time and the person to leave the system, the state is obliged to create conditions, to create a job. The problem here is not taking away the benefit, but the fact that the state has not done anything for these families, but has also cut off the little support that was there.

No mass jobs were created in Goris and the entire region. When you don’t create a job opportunity, but you also take away the benefit, the situation of poor families becomes poorer.

From July 1, this same system will be spread throughout the country, so that from July 1, thousands of families in other marzes will start to “get rich in a flash” with the light hand of the government.
