Former Minister of Foreign Affairs Vardan Oskanyan published a video in which he addressed the ambitions and elections of Azerbaijanis to live in Armenia.

“As of now, the elections are over, the authorities have actually recorded some numbers, they consider that they have the power. Anyway, there is a continuation of the previous one. Today, they have the responsibility to protect the interests of Armenia.

Let’s refuse to make the issue of the return of Azerbaijanis a subject of controversy between the government and the opposition, respond to the speeches and actions of the Azerbaijanis, their activities in the USA and European countries. This is a serious danger. By saying that there is no such question, the opposition is speculating, it is not so. You said the same about Artsakh, in the end we lost Artsakh.

I am sure that in the end we will also change the entire demographic situation of Armenia. This will not happen immediately, but its beginning is being made now, if we do not face this today, then it will be very difficult.

The authorities will go to implement Trip, the authorities will still give the so-called enclaves, and that penetration will start from those points. The issue of settlement of Azerbaijanis in Armenia is a state program of Azerbaijan.

Do we not see this, is this not obvious? This is not an opposition-government issue, it is an issue of Armenia’s national security. If we don’t address this now, we will see that the state of Armenia is no longer an Armenian territory. We may lose our majority in our homeland. Referring to the claims of the authorities that if we don’t put up the Artsakh flag, if we don’t talk about it, the Azerbaijanis will give up the idea of ​​their return, Oskanyan said that this is not the case. “First of all, equating these two with each other was a serious mistake made by the Armenian authorities. The population of the territory, which had an autonomous region a few years ago, negotiated self-determination for 75 years during the Soviet period, and negotiated self-determination with international mediation for 30 years after that, cannot be equated with the return of Azerbaijanis who left Armenia during the Soviet period. It can be compared with the 300 thousand Armenian population living outside Nagorno Karabakh, in the territory of Azerbaijan. The issue of the return of Artsakh citizens is fixed by international law, there is the decision of the International Court of Justice, there are several resolutions of the European Parliament, there is the initiative of the Swiss Parliament, there is the statement of more than 100 US congressmen, the statement of the members of the British Parliament, the statements made at the executive level of individual countries. Their right of return cannot even be compared, let alone equated with any issue of return of Azerbaijanis.

But back to the main question, don’t underestimate this problem. Don’t be silent about this to gain acceptance. Speak up, this is a serious danger, this is a state program by Azerbaijan. We will lose Syunik first, then there will be penetration from Tigranashen, Tavush, to more central regions, and one day we will really open our eyes, we will see that we live in a country where we are no longer the majority, as the Armenian people.
