The French Senate discussed the Armenian elections

On June 23, Ambassador Arman Khachatryan met the members of the France-Armenia friendship group in the French Senate, headed by the group’s president, Gilbert-Luc Devinaz.


The president of the friendship group referred to the major international events held in Armenia, as well as the parliamentary elections, asking the ambassador to talk about them in detail. This was reported by the RA Embassy in France.


The Ambassador of Armenia highly appreciated the continuous support of the French Senate to Armenia and the Armenian people, including the development of the Armenia-France strategic partnership.


Ambassador Khachatryan referred to the parliamentary elections in Armenia and the recorded results, as well as the post-election developments and the conclusions of international observers.


He spoke about the 8th summit of the European Political Community held in Armenia in May and the inaugural RA-EU summit. He singled out the state visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Armenia on May 3-5. Within the framework of the visit, he emphasized the signing of the declaration on the establishment of strategic partnership between Armenia and France, which creates new opportunities for the expansion of cooperation in a number of important fields.


During the meeting, the ambassador presented Armenia’s efforts aimed at institutionalizing peace established in the South Caucasus, as well as emphasized the developments aimed at the implementation of the “TRIPP” project.


Ambassador Khachatryan drew the attention of senators to the situation created as a result of economic restrictions on products of Armenian origin, highlighting the support of both the EU and France in this matter.


The president and members of the Senate France-Armenia friendship group reaffirmed the commitment of the Senate and the friendship group to continue supporting the peace agenda in the region, the processes aimed at strengthening democracy in Armenia, as well as strengthening and expanding the bilateral partnership between Armenia and France.
