As of 15:00 on the day of the RA National Assembly elections, 59 phone calls related to human rights were received during the electoral process. Some of the issues did not relate to the HRD mandate and were referred to competent authorities.
A part of the problems referred to legislative issues of a systemic nature, which do not imply intervention in the format of a quick response. 15 problems related to the HRD mandate received a positive solution with the support of the Defender.
During the mentioned period, the defender’s staff also studied 170 publications in the media and social networks.
The alerts received, among others, related to the absence of personal data in the voter lists, voting procedures, accessibility of polling stations and the exercise of electoral rights of persons with disabilities, the exercise of the electoral right of a person undergoing inpatient treatment, the exercise of the right to vote of voters registered in another community or not registered in any community, issues related to criminal proceedings during the day, etc.
Citizens were given full consultations, according to specific cases, clarifications were immediately requested from competent authorities.
The Human Rights Defender’s staff continues to monitor issues related to the protection of human rights during the electoral process.
Complaints and alarms related to electoral rights can be submitted to the Defender by calling the hotline 116 or (096) 116 100. The problems recorded during the day will be summarized and addressed in the prescribed manner.
