During the military parade organized on the occasion of the Republic Day, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made a speech, summarizing the results recorded since 2022 in the direction of army building, acquisition of weapons and provision of social guarantees for servicemen.
“Today we present to you the new army of the Republic of Armenia with new weapons, new uniforms and new ideology. The core of that ideology is as follows. The only task of the army is the protection of the internationally recognized sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia, and our army should not be deployed outside the internationally recognized territories of Armenia, except for peacekeeping missions based on international agreements.”
Referring to the process of acquiring weapons, the Prime Minister reminded that before 2022, international markets for weapons and military equipment were mostly closed or difficult to access for RA, as international partners refused to supply weapons, fearing that they would be used outside internationally recognized territories.
“Only after the agreement reached in Prague on October 6, 2022, when Armenia and Azerbaijan recognized each other’s territorial integrity on the basis of the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration, the international arms market was opened for Armenia only after this agreement. Armaments and military equipment produced by around 7 countries will be paraded in today’s military parade-report.
One of the important axes of the parade-report is the weapons and military equipment produced in RA, which today are taking the first but confident steps to occupy a stable position in the international market,” Pashinyan emphasized, adding that starting from 2022, the government has invested about 170 billion drams in the local military-industrial complex.
