Ambassadors from several countries in Armenia visited the Tsitsernakaberd memorial in Yerevan on Friday to pay tribute to the victims of the Armenian Genocide.
The U.S. Embassy in Armenia said in a statement: “Acting Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Peter Andreoli laid flowers at the eternal flame at Tsitsernakaberd to honor and remember the lives of one and a half million Armenians.”
British Ambassador Alexandra Cole also paid tribute at the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial, laying flowers in memory of the Armenian victims. “The terrible suffering inflicted on Armenians, through massacres and other crimes between 1914–1921, which we commemorate today, was a horrific tragedy. It is important to acknowledge this suffering and to remember those who endured it, as we work towards a peaceful and stable future for Armenia and the wider region,” the British Embassy quoted Ambassador Cole as saying.
Belgium’s Ambassador Eric De Muynck and Sweden’s Ambassador Eva Sundquist also visited the memorial.
