The Armenian militaries have thwarted attempts of Azerbaijani drones to penetrate the airspace of the Gegarkunik Region, the Armenian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on July 28, local clashes occurred on the border of the Gegarkunik region of Armenia with Azerbaijan. On July 28, the parties, mediated by Russia, agreed on a ceasefire, but on July 29 they blamed each other of violating the ceasefire. Nikol Pashinyan, the Acting Armenian Prime Minister, asked Russia to create its military strongholds on the problematic border section. However, experts believe that Moscow will ignore this Yerevan's call, since Russia's foreign policy priorities are outside Southern Caucasus.

On July 29, Armenia's air defence forces suppressed attempts of Azeri drones to penetrate the Armenian airspace on the section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in the direction of Gegarkunik, the website of the Armenian MoD has reported.
