CIS puts together observation mission for Armenian parliamentary elections

MINSK, 8 June (BelTA) – The CIS has put together the observation mission for the snap elections to the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, BelTA learned from the mission headquarters.

The mission has comprised representatives of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, and the CIS Executive Committee.

The CIS long-term observers have been monitoring the electoral campaign since 31 May. On 7 June, they visited district election commissions of Yerevan and took part in a seminar organized by the Central Electoral Commission of Armenia for members of precinct election commissions.

On 8 June, Deputy Chief of the Armenian Police Ara Fidanyan informed head of the CIS observation mission Evgeny Kozyak about the ongoing work to draw up and clarify the voters lists, the measures to ensure public order during the electoral campaign and on the day of voting. It was agreed that the police will inform the mission about the violations related to the electoral process, the complaints sent to the police about such violations and the results of their consideration.

The snap elections to the National Assembly of Armenia are scheduled for 20 June.
