The Government of Armenia provided AMD 3,000 in assistance to my sister. This is what refugee from Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Liana Minasyan told reporters today, adding that the government calculated her sister’s pension and paid her only AMD 3,000.

“My sister refused to take the money and told the government to send the money to those who need it the most now,” she said.

Minasyan also noted that the Government of Armenia allocates AMD 300,000 to the families of refugees per person. There are three members in Minasyan’s family, meaning the family will receive AMD 900,000. Based on Minasyan’s calculations, this will only be enough to pay for apartment rent, utility bills, food and other items.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
