Armenia’s Karen Avagyan (89 kg) won gold at the European Junior and U23 Weightlifting Championships taking place in Bucharest, Romania.
The Armenian athlete lifted a total of 364 kg (170kg+194kg) to win the champion’s title, the National Olympic Committee’s press service reported.
Avagyan also won small gold in the snatch and silver in the clean and jerk.
Another Armenian athlete Ara Aghanyan captured silver in the same weight class with a combined total of 358 kg. He also won small silver in the snatch and small gold in the clean and jerk.
Liana Gyurjyan (81 kg) had earlier won a medal in the women’s U20 competition, while Rafik Harutyunyan (81 kg) had taken bronze.
