On January 8, 2019, Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan had a telephone conversation with Gabit Baizhanov, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Security Council Secretary.

During the telephone conversation, the parties exchanged ideas on the situation in Karaganda.
The Secretary of the Council of Armenia conveyed his deepest condolences to the relatives and friends of the murdered Zhanseit Baktjanul.

Both sides emphasized the inadmissibility of turning the tragedy that occurred as a result of a domestic dispute into an inter-ethnic problem.  The secretaries of the Security Council of the two countries emphasized the need for multi-faceted and transparent investigation and the need to prosecute all perpetrators of crimes exclusively within the framework of law and justice.

At the same time, the importance of ensuring the continuity of direct communication between the relevant departments of the two countries was highlighted.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
