Baku, Azerbaijan, Feb. 22

By Samir Ali – Trend:

The Sumgait clashes were committed by the Armenian separatist forces under a prepared scenario by the order of the pro-Armenian forces represented in the Soviet leadership, Eldar Sultanov, head of the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan, said Feb. 22 in Baku at an event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Sumgait events.

Sultanov added that the investigative and operational actions revealed the true essence of the Sumgait events.

“On March 31, 2016, during the presentation of a book titled “Sumgait events from a primary source” by journalist Saadat Gadirova in Moscow, Vladimir Kalinichenko, a member of the first investigative and operational group of the Prosecutor’s Office of the USSR and other participants said that the Sumgait events were organized by the State Security Committee of the USSR on behalf of the leadership of the USSR, serving the Armenian lobby, and therefore, none of the organizers of the clashes were brought to responsibility,” said Sultanov.

He added that the investigative and operational group consisting of the employees of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Interior Ministry and the State Security Service of Azerbaijan continues comprehensive investigative and operational measures to identify and bring to justice all organizers of the clashes, as well as to expose their accomplices.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
