NATO welcomes cessation of hostilities along Nagorno-Karabakh Line of Contact

“I am encouraged by the reports of the cessation of hostilities along the Nagorno-Karabakh Line of Contact,” NATO Secretary GeneralĀ Jans Stoltenberg said in a statement.

“I urge the sides to respect the ceasefire, show restraint and prevent any new escalation,” he said.

“NATO supports the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group. The parties need to go back to the negotiating table and find a comprehensive settlement, under the auspices of the Co-chairs. There is no military solution to the conflict,” the Secretary General added.

According to him, “the peaceful resolution of conflicts is one of the core commitments to which all NATO’s partner countries commit when joining the Partnership for Peace.”

ā€œI should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.ā€ - WS
