OSCE Chairperson-in-Office expresses concern over developments in Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone

With respect to the situation in theĀ Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said today in Berlin:

ā€I am very concerned about the military escalation along the Line of Contact in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone and about the casualties, including among civilians. I call upon the sides to end hostilities immediately and to respect the ceasefire in full.

There is no military solution to the conflict. The sides must now show the necessary political will to return to the negotiations in the framework of the Minsk Group. The Minsk GroupĀ Co-Chairs enjoy my full support in their task.ā€

ā€œI should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.ā€ - WS
