ARRESTED MEMBER OF FOUNDING PARLIAMENT MOVEMENT GOES ON HUNGER STRIKE

A member of the Founding Parliament Movement Gevorg Safaryan went
on a hunger strike protesting against unlawful actions and political
persecutions.

Along with another four members of the Founding Parliament,
Safaryan was arrested over organization of mass disorders. He is at
the Nubarashen penitentiary in Yerevan. A human rights observation
group visited him at the penitentiary today, the Secretariat of the
Founding Parliament said. Safaryan was transferred to a special cell
together with other prisoners on hunger strike. The group will continue
monitoring the health state and incarceration conditions of Safaryan.
