Armenian MP Proposes Setting Up Investment Protection Committee

ARMENIAN MP PROPOSES SETTING UP INVESTMENT PROTECTION COMMITTEE

YEREVAN, April 7. / ARKA /. An MP from the Armenian Revolutionary
Federation/Dashnaktsutyun party Artsvik Minasyan proposes that a
committee be set up to protect investments, a story in the local
newspaper “168 Hours” (“168 Hours”) says.

Minasyan says the proposed agency’s powers must include protection of
investments, helping investors to overcome red tape and ‘implementation
of urgent reforms for protection of ownership rights.’

“The right to ownership must be protected regardless of whether the
owner is in Armenia or not, regardless of their political affiliation
and membership in other organziations. This is essential for the
formation of an atmosphere of trust, ” Minasyan says,

He says currently these functions are performed by different state
agencies such as the ministries of economy and finance and the State
Commission for Protection of Economic Competition.-0-
