Vice-President of the European Parliament Ryszard Czarnecki spoke
Armenian at the official opening of the 4th plenary session of the
Euronest Parliamentary Assembly in Yerevan.

He thanked the Armenian side for its hospitality. According to him,
the Euronest delegation is on a visit to a country which has unique
history and cultural values.

“We remember the 100th anniversary of your national tragedy,” Mr
Czarnecki said.

He elaborated on a message by President of the European Martin Schulz.

The message deals with the developments that followed the plenary
session in Brussels, after which three nations acceded to an
Association Agreement, while others decided to continue their
cooperation with the EU in other contexts.

Mr Schulz is happy to know about Armenia’s willingness to sign a
new agreement with the European Union, which will promote reforms in
the country.

According to Mr Czarnecki, this year is an eventful year for Armenia.

On April 24, all the Armenians, together with guests, will mark the
100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. As a Polish MP he is
proud that in 2005 the parliament of Poland recognized and condemned
the Armenian Genocide.

Poland is expected to approve a new resolution, which is to be
discussed before April 24.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
