AZNAVOUR TO GIVE A CONCERT ON ARMENIAN GENOCIDE CENTENNIAL IN VATICAN
YEREVAN, March 18. /ARKA/. World known chansonnier of Armenian origin
Charles Aznavour is planning to perform a concert in Vatican on the
Armenian genocide centennial, RIA Novosti reported referring to KAI.
According to KAI, the singer will meet Pope Francis on Wednesday and
planning to talk about the concert to him.
The Pope is well aware of Aznavour’s art and listens to the music by
one of the most popular singers among Armenians, said a source close
to the Pope.
On April 12, Pope Francis will hold a holy service at Saint Peter’s
church to commemorate the 1915 genocide of Armenians. He has named
2015 as the year of Saint Gregory of Narek, a tenth-century Armenian
monk and poet, a Doctor of the Church. Only some 36 saints have been
granted the title so far. –0–
