Loris Diran makes it two-for-one at Hong Kong Fashion Week

For his runway debut in Hong Kong, Armenian American designer Loris
Diran decided to combine two seasons into one fashion show: selected
outfits from the womenswear portion of his “SAMARKAND” Spring 2014
collection, and his latest Spring 2015 men’s offering. The
collections previously hit the New York runway a year apart, yet in
2015 they combined for a remarkable visually cohesive effort as one of
four labels featured in the Audi Hong Kong Fashion Extravaganza that
kicked off Hong Kong Fashion Week.

Both collections drew from a buoyant palette dominated by khaki and
blue. A trip to Uzbekistan sparked Diran’s “SAMARKAND” collections
for Spring 2014, with colors and patterns influenced by local mosques,
jewels and spices. Sapphire slashed its way through a mini dress and
a cropped blazer, while flowing chiffon gowns – some in soft beige,
others in watercolor-inspired prints – were indicative of the
sophistication that has been present throughout Diran’s work over the
years. This was also evident in Diran’s Spring 2015 menswear,
offering an equally diverse collection of casual and business attire,
and solid workmanship, notably in a blue and white checkered suit.
