Moshe Yaalon visited Azerbaijan on Wednesday for a two-day visit,
the first by an Israeli defense minister in this country bordering
Iran, said the Ministry of Defence.

“The defense minister has landed in Baku for a two-day visit, the
first by an Israeli defense minister in Azerbaijan,” said a statement
from the Israeli Ministry of Defense.

The visit aims to “strengthen bilateral cooperation” between the two
countries and to discuss “regional strategic issues,” according to
the text.

Border of Iran, Azerbaijan is the country closest to Israel Caucasus.

Baku has purchased over $ 1.5 billion of arms to Israel and would
have allowed Israeli planes to use Azeri airbases in the event of
possible strikes against Iran, according to news reports.

Moshe Yaalon must meet during this official visit Azeri President
Ilham Aliyev, his counterpart Zakir Hasanov and Foreign Minister
Elmar Mammadyarov and representatives of local Jewish communities.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
