KOCHARYAN: TURKEY CONSISTENTLY IMPLEMENTS GENOCIDE DENIAL POLICY

Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Shavarsh Kocharyan responded to
the question of the program “First Informational” of Armenia’s Public
Television concerning the newly-appointed Turkish Foreign Minister
Mevlut Cavusoglu’s recent statement about Armenian-Turkish relations.

Mevlut Cavusoglu blamed Armenia for the fact that Armenian-Turkish
relations have not been normalized. He reiterated that the Armenian
side allegedly did not respond to the Turkish prime minister’s letter
in 2005.

“We would not like to believe that the Armenian side’s answer to the
Turkish prime minister’s letter of April 25, 2005 has not remained
in archives of Turkish Foreign Ministry. The answer was given and
then published in a few days.

Turkey consistently implements a policy of denial of the Armenian
Genocide and continues its futile attempts to distort and deny
historical facts. This position of the Turkish side is the obstacle
to the Armenian-Turkish normalization,” Shavarsh Kocharyan said.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
