Azerbaijani Preisdent: “For restoration of confidence, Armenia should
withdraw its troops from occupied territories”

Armenians have already self-determined once, why do they have to build
the second state in Azerbaijan’s territories?
Baku. Ramiz Mikayiloglu – APA. “Cooperation with Europe is a priority
for Azerbaijan. At the same time, we have also established relations
with other intenational organizations, states”, said the President of
Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in his speech at the opening ceremony of the
session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Baku.
Head of the state noted that one of the main successes of Azerbaijan
was election as non-permanent member of the UN Security Council two
years ago: “This is the greatest political victory of our country”.
Noting Azerbaijan’s chairmanship to the Committee of Ministers of the
Council of Europe, I. Aliyev said that the main issue is the
fulfillment of the decisions of the international organizations: “”The
UN SC has some resolutions that are fulfilled in a few hours, some
resolutions that are only on the paper for 20 years. There are such
resolutions in respect to Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani people are
concerned about it. As a result of this, confidence on the
international organizations can be declines. Over the last 20 years we
have suffered from Armenian aggression. Nagorno Karabakh is eternal
Azerbaijan’s land and under occupation of Armenia over 20 years.
Armenians have conducted ethnic cleansing policy against Azerbaijan.
Khojaly genocide has been recognized by many of countries of the
world”.
Head of the state mentioned that Armenia ignores decisions of the UN
and the OSCE regarding Azerbaijan’s occupied territories, the Nagorno
Karabagh conflict and noted that Armenia also ignores statements of
the OSCE Minsk Group: “The co-chairs say that status-quo should be
changed. That’s’ the territories should be liberated. Armenia ignores
it. Settlement of the conflict basing on the territorial integrity is
the initial condition. Regarding self-determination, according to
Helsinki principles, this should not contradict territorial integrity.
Armenians have already self-determined once, why do they have to build
the second state in Azerbaijan’s territories? After all, current
Armenia has also been built in Azerbaijan’s territory”.
President I. Aliyev stressed that for restoration of confidence,
Armenia should withdraw its troops from occupied territories.
