COGNAC PRODUCTION IN ARMENIA DOWN 5% IN Q1

Armenia produced 3,481 liters of cognac in the first quarter of 2014,
down 5% year-on-year, the country’s National Statistics Service
reported.
Russia and other CIS countries are the main markets for Armenia cognac.
Armenian wine production fell 7.3% to 1,092 liters, while vodka and
other hard liquor production was down 2.5% at 1,951 liters.
Output of champagne wines advanced 20.1% to 71,100 liters, and beer –
110% to 3,377 liters.
Cognac production increased 9.6% year-on-year in 2013 to 20.285
million liters. Wine production fell 12.3% to 6.422 million liters,
champagne wines – 12% to 536,400 liters, and beer – 45.2% to 19.848
million liters.
Vodka and other hard liquor production fell 1.6% to 9.938 million
liters.
