The Russian universities are opening a call for applications for the
2014-2015 academic year, offering Armenian students 200 quotas in
different bachelor, master and post-graduate programs.

The project is a joint initiative by the Russian Federal Agency for
the Commonwealth of Independent States (Rossotrudnichestvo) and the
Armenian Ministry of Education and Science.

Mark Kaliev, the agency’s acting head who introduced the program in
Yerevan on Friday, said the students choosing Russian universities
will be offered certain privileges during studies. “There will be
certainly privileges for those studying at Russian institutions of
higher learning, but the project is aimed at meeting the interests
of the different branches of Armenia’s economy. The bid for preparing
human resources in different specializations is launched by Armenia’s
Ministry of Education and Science. Hence those specializations,
offered to the Armenian side, are targeted to meet specific needs,”
he explained.

The Armenian applicants interested in study opportunities in Russia
are required to apply to the either the Ministry or Federal Agency’s
office, added Liana Azoyan, a press secretary for Rossotrudnichestvo.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
