ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 4 — United States Patent no. 8,641,961, issued on Feb. 4.
“Method of manufacturing building brick” was invented by Mikayel
Hamamchyan (Yerevan, Armenia). According to the abstract* released by
the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: “A method of manufacturing building
bricks provides for mixing quartz sand, which can be barkhan bare sand,
with clay and starch. NaOH and water, which can be technical water or
sea water, are added to the mixture which is then subjected to semidry
shaping and baking. The resulting light weight bricks produced in a
simple and economical way possess low thermal conductivity, are heat-
and frost proof, chemical-resistant, and biorefractory.” The patent
was filed on May 6, 2009, under Application No. 12/995,948. *For
