A roadmap for the Armenian accession to the Customs Union and the
Common Economic Space shall be drawn up by the Moscow summit of the
Supreme Eurasian Economic Council due this December, Russian First
Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov said.

“A concrete decision has been made with regard to Armenia: the working
party will get down to business and the roadmap and the first outcomes
will be presented to the next session of the Council in Moscow in
December,” Shuvalov told reporters on Friday, following the Minsk
summit of the Eurasian Economic Council.

He said Armenia pledged to endorse the normative legal acts required
for its entry into the Customs Union within several months.

“The Armenian president asked the presidents of Customs Union states
for an opportunity of the soonest possible ratification of these
agreements,” Shuvalov said.

He added that Yerevan was prepared to join the Union regulations
without any exceptions or limitations.

Shuvalov did not rule out that Armenia might joint the integration
union in two steps, the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
