KAZAKH LEADER PROPOSES TO TAKE TURKEY INTO CUSTOMS UNION
YEREVAN, October 24. / ARKA /. Speaking at a meeting of the Supreme
Eurasian Economic Council Kazakhstan’s president Nursultan Nazarbayev
proposed that Turkey be taken in as a member of the Customs Union.
He said Turkey’s president had asked him to speak for Ankara’s
membership in the Customs Union. ‘Lets take Turkey in,’ said Nazarbayev
in Minsk, Belarus.
According to him, when abroad he was asked often whether the Customs
Union is an attempt to restore the former Soviet Union.
“Let us take Turkey in and put an end to these speculations,”
Nazarbayev told his Russian and Belarus counterparts, Novosti
