ONE ARMENIAN SERVICEMAN KILLED, THREE WOUNDED IN MINE EXPLOSION

The Defense Ministry of Armenia has reported today that 25-year
captain Gevorg Mnatsakanyan, commander of the engineer company at a
military unit located near the northeastern section of the border,
was killed in a mine explosion while on combat duty in the territory
under the control of the unit in the evening of October 16.
The press service of the Ministry says that senior lieutenant Garush
Hambartsumyan, army conscript, private Narek Hakobyan, and contract
serviceman, private Edgar Harutyunyan were wounded and taken to
the military hospital in Yerevan. The condition of Hambartsumyan
and Harutyunyan is assessed as of medium severity and the state of
Hakobyan as satisfactory.
The Ministry expressed condolences to the family, friends and fellow
servicemen of Mnatsakanyan.
Investigation is underway in connection with the case.
