AMNESTY IN PROGRESS IN ARMENIA

Nikolay Arustamyan, Advisor to Armenia’s Minister of Justice, told
journalists on Tuesday that the amnesty act is being applied to all
the prisoners to be released under the amnesty.

“As of today, the process is under way. About 500 prisoners will
be released, and up to 1,000 will have their punishment mitigated,”
he said.

Also, courts can apply the amnesty in passing their verdicts.
