NEW CLASHES IN YEREVAN’S KOMITAS STREET

New clashes erupted between residents of Yerevan’s Komitas street
(Arabkir district) and the police following the morning scandal that
saw several people attempting to break through a police cordon to
hamper controversial construction work.

The afternoon clashes began after several developmer managed break
into the construction site with police officers’ help.

A woman who contacted Tert.am said the new violence broke out 5:30
am local time.

Some of the protesters managed to break into the square through fences
prevent future development activities.

It is the fourth year the residents of three buildings in Komitas
street are protesting against the construction of a multi-storey
residential building on their territory.
