Armenian Defense Ministry invites ICRC officials to meet with Azeri POW

YEREVAN. Aug 16

Azeri POW Firuz Faradzhev, who is currently held in Armenia, has
expressed a wish to return to Azerbaijan, Armenian First Deputy
Defense Minister David Tonoyan said while meeting with Dragana
Rankovic, a delegate of the International Committee of the red Cross.

“He [Firuz Faradzhev] has also asked for a meeting with
representatives of the international humanitarian missions operating
in Armenia. The Defense Ministry invited the ICRC to meet with
Faradzhev. The ICRC took note of the information,” the Defense
Ministry press service told Interfax on Thursday.

During a meeting in Yerevan on Thursday, Tonoyan and Rankovic also
discussed the return to Armenia of Armenian POW Akop Indzhigulyan, who
found himself in Azerbaijan on August 8.

“Dragana Rankovic informed the Armenian first deputy defense minister
that the Baku office of the ICRC has expressed confidence that the
date of the meeting with POW Akop Indzhigulyan will de determined in
the near future,” the ministry said.
